Use this program to Generate passwd files easily.

This program is very simple to use. Simply type in the usernames, one on each line. If you want to specify the passwords simply add a ‘:’ to each line and add the password eg: ane:mysecretpassword.

Clicking on Save will generate a htpasswd file which you can place on your web server. Please note that the generated file (with unencrypted passwords) is copied to the clipboard. The file is saved in the same directory as the application. Rename it to the filename you require eg passwd on linux or .htpasswd on windows.

If your apache server is hosted on a Unix machine use the Unix setting for encypting password. This uses the unix crypt() funciton while on windows it uses MD5.
